Who we are

Hello, my name is Zyler Ogden. I am 15, a high school sophomore and I am the founder of Chasing Sunsets Inc.

Chasing Sunsets is a non-profit suicide awareness charity which I created in 2023, with the help of my family as a way to cope with my own grief having lost my teenage friend to suicide at the age of 13.

She was much like a sunset; beautiful, vibrant, and once she took her life there was a period of darkness. After losing her I needed to make sure that she was never forgotten and find a way to make sure that others can find the help they need so their sun doesn’t set too soon.

There is such a stigma surrounding mental health and the impacts it has within our community. My hope is that through Chasing Sunsets we can help to stop the stigma and help to start open honest discussions about mental health. I believe the first step is understanding that you're loved and you’re not alone. Many people feel like they cannot speak their truth, that they do not have someone who will understand, when in fact, they do. We are all in this together.

In addition to spreading awareness, through our non-profit organization I provide scholarships to our local Randolph county schools. I want to start the discussion on mental health and discuss the impacts it has on our community. I believe involving our future generations in the topic will be the key to stopping the stigma. Scholarship candidates must submit an essay on the impacts of mental health. In 2024, Chasing Sunsets awarded 5 - $500 scholarships to Randolph County Indiana High School Seniors.

Through a partnership with The Indiana Chapter of The American Foundation we are able to offer resources to our community.

In 2024 we have partnered with another Randolph County non for profit , Start with Art, and have started Mental Health Mondays. Throught his
